Variable Speed Drive Compressors

Check up to five results to perform an action.

  • Sigma Frequency Control Models: SFC 8 to 315
  • Horsepower: 10 to 450 hp (8 to 315 kW)
  • Capacities: 10 to 2232 cfm
  • Standard pressures: 80 to 217 psig
Kaeser's Sigma Frequency Control (SFC) compressors combine our Sigma Profile air ends and revolutionary Sigma Control system with the latest in variable speed drive technology. Kaeser uses large, optimized air ends turning at slower speeds for more efficient performance across the entire speed range.

Sigma Control -The compressor control system features an industrial-based PC with update capabilities, Intel® microprocessor, and real-time operating system. Five different control configurations are available to precisely match compressor performance to air demand. System can display status in any one of 30 selectable languages.

Precise pressure control - SFC compressors precisely control system pressure to ±2 psig using highly accurate sensors and the Sigma Control System to control motor speed. This eliminates "over pressurizing" and increases energy savings - after all every 2 psig saved in over pressurizing reduces power consumption by 1%!

Superior drive system technology - SFC drive systems feature electromagnetic interface (EMI) filters, contactors for galvanic separation and line reactors for superior protection. Drive cabinet cooling fans maintain proper operating temperatures even under extreme ambient conditions.

EMI filter - SFC drive systems are designed with an electromagnetic interference filter that eliminates or isolates all feedback, and prevents harmonic distortion from entering the plant's electrical grid.

Soft starts - SFC units offer a "soft rise" in motor starting current from zero to full load without current spikes or excess heat rise. This allows unlimited motor starts, and since the SFC drive yields a "near unity power factor," power factor penalties are also eliminated.

Outstanding performance with SFC

Kaeser SFC compressors are exceptionally efficient variable speed drive compressors. Using larger air ends with optimized profiles turning at slower speeds, the SFC series provides more air per kilowatt and optimum performance over its entire speed range. Plus, all Kaeser SFC compressors models are capable of 100 percent duty cycles if the application requires it.

Belt Drive - SM, SK and ASK SFC models use Kaeser’s minimal maintenance V-belt drive system and automatic belt tensioning device to ensure optimum power transmission.

One-to-One Direct Drive - Kaeser's SFC units are true direct drive units - not gear driven like some compressors. Our proprietary one-to-one direct drive completely eliminates transmission losses and reduces the number of components to increase reliability and service life.

Kaeser's one-to-one direct drive offers triple savings: "no-loss" power transmission, reduced power consumption and reduced maintenance and related downtime costs.
